Continental Trading & Hardware
The Pimentel brothers in Newark, NJ established Continental Trading & Hardware in 1972. At first, Antonio, Joseph and Arthur were very inexperienced about the hardware business; however, they learned quickly through salesmen and customers. The small, 750 square foot store located on Ferry St doubled its space within a few months, and has expanded every year since. In October of 1972, Continental joined TruServ allowing them to fill their store with inventory. In 1987 a second warehouse and store opened, expanding its building products and lumber lines. The Pimentel brother's goals, "Pay the bills, charge an honest price, keep the store well stocked and always listen to the customers." Has helped to keep them in business for 27 years. Today Continental Trading & Hardware has two thriving locations that generate $13 million in retail sales annually. Hard work, loyalty to both customers and vendors and a desire to fulfill their goals have been the key elements in making Continental Trading & Hardware a success. |
